About 25,000 workers at Misr Spinning and Weaving Company in Mahalla al-Kubra has announced as early as January that they would stage a massive strike on 6 April if their ongoing demands for improved wages and labor conditions were not met. The 6 April labor threat had snowballed into calls for a public nationwide strike spread via SMSs, blogs and websites, especially the Facebook. These calls had been crystallized into the "Stay At Home" call, which spread nationwide. Due to the danger that supposed to surround the April 6, 2008 strike action and the security measures, which could be preemptive measures or tough crackdowns and violent confrontations, the Hisham Mubarak Law Center along with some human rights organizations had decided to create a legal front defending the would-be demonstrators in case of arresting them. The Front consisted of The Hisham Mubarak Law Center; Al Hilali Society for Liberties (Bar Association); The Democratic Lawyers Group; Al Hilali Association for Liberties; the Freedom of Thought and Expression Association; The Egyptian Association for Promoting Societal Participation; the Mahalla Lawyers Committee.  التفاصيل »

As losers who know nothing but repression and tyranny, they were predictable. As losers who failed miserably to make any development progress or even preserve the past gains, their repression was predictable. As losers who failed totally to manage any crisis that ranged from rice straw fires to price rise fires, their tyranny and polices were a blatant expression of their own corruption. As losers who have a shipyard of straitjacket laws, their ears couldn't bear the voice of the independent press, they couldn't stand the courage of the new press especially Al Dostour newspaper and its editor-in-chief, Ibrahim Essa, because their ears have been accustomed for decades to hear praise and flattery from their own newspapers.

The court decided the following;
In the lawsuit No 15844/61 Judicially;
Lodged by the plaintiff Samir Sabry Saad el Din;
Versus
1)Minister of Interior (in his capacity);
2)Mrs. Nawal Al Sa'dawy;
3)Prosecutor-General in his capacity as a party requested to be joined the case;
4)Sheikh of Al Azhr in his capacity as a party requested to be joined the case;
5)Khaled Ali Omar (joining the side of the second defendant).
